The Regenerative Resorts Membership Program encourages properties to move towards regenerative models.

Regenerative Travel, a benefit corporation and online booking platform providing marketing and hospitality services to a network of independently owned eco-luxury boutique hotels dedicated to the highest levels of social and environmental impact is delighted to announce the launch of its new Regenerative Resorts Membership Program; an annual subscription and professional network of hotels who are committed to moving beyond sustainability to regeneration. The Regenerative Resorts Membership Program offers hotels and resorts access to a data benchmarking system aimed to further each hotel’s ‘regenerative journey’ and provide properties guidance and operational support with their new initiatives such as social equality & impact initiatives, solar panel installation, wellness programming for their staff or having a succession plan.

Portia Hart, Standard Bearer at Regenerative Travel says: “With the Regenerative Resorts Membership Program, we aim to create a process that is aspirational, rather than exclusive. Peer benchmarking is an invaluable tool for assessing where you sit, but it is not a focus for RT, as it is not related to our underlying goal of regenerating social and environmental ecosystems that are external to our businesses. Our goal is not to represent the best of a bad bunch. Our goal is to inspire our members to be the best that they can be.”

During the three-stage application process, hotels and resorts will be assessed on a set of criteria such as their approach to the environment and their business operations; they will also be asked to demonstrate their claims through data collected looking at pillars such as waste, energy, inclusion, and education; and lastly, they will be required to demonstrate to the RT applications board that the property shares, operates by and promotes regenerative values.

Regenerative Travel is moving to a membership organisation as part of our mission to encourage collaboration and inclusivity, inviting hotels and resorts to come together in support of the environment and the communities we operate in. We invite and welcome new members to join, whose involvement and efforts will enable the future sustainable growth of our industry while planning for the next generation of travelers,” says Amanda Ho, Co-Founder of Regenerative Travel.

The benchmarking will measure environmental and social impact metrics using a third party data collection system (Greenview Portal), a boutique sustainability firm that provides hospitality organizations with consulting and advisory services, the leading online sustainability data platform, and industry research studies. In addition to that, members will also have access to monthly remote convenings and in-person regional convenings, complimentary access to Regenerative Travel’s Annual Summit, support and guidance on regenerative practices and initiatives; and access to marketing/promotional activities.

More information on the metrics, application process for hotel membership, and membership fees are available on regenerativetravel.com/regenerative-resorts-membership.

Applications close December 1, 2020.
