A luxury product is differentiated by its uber-chic design and craftsmanship, which makes it stand out in a clutter.

Proving this adage true is a DEVIEHL, a brand of luxurious coffee cups that promises to transform your coffee drinking experience. A technical masterpiece, each cup is made up of 25 separate components that incorporate advanced insulation technology. This means, not only will your carbon fibre, silver-coated, brush-finish cup look good, but your coffee, too, will maintain an optimal drinking temperature at which it tastes delicious. The inside of the cup is optimized to ensure maximum ‘Crema’ formation.

These technologically advanced coffee cups will be officially launched at Harrods soon, and Jonathan Strauss, one of the founders says that Michael Ward, CEO of Harrods, has inspired and mentored the brand along its complex journey.

DEVIEHL is a brand founded by two London Business School ‘Sloan 2011’ graduates – Jonathan Strauss, who worked in luxury watch industry in Switzerland, and Andreas Bos, an engineer by training.

Amost 18 months of engineering has gone into creating these technically advanced conically shaped cups that fit into a profiled base by means of a special retaining mechanism. Unusual and unconventional materials like Cocobolo and Zebrano, or hydrophobic leather and carbon fibre, have been fused with exotic wood for these lovely cups.

“Coffee has today become a luxury,” believes Strauss. “Bean excreted by Indonesian cats cost a fortune, while Marzocco domestic Espresso machines cost up to $25,000. Yet coffee cups are dull, boring and uninspired. Cups and saucers are poorly merchandised and stacked on top of each other as they have been for generations. We, on the other hand, set out to create the perfect coffee cup.”

It took about 18 months of research and development to launch the brand. “Ours is a somewhat different story, involving an unusual twist on business school, the amazing support we’ve had from Harrods, two rather eccentric guys – one German, one English – who are approaching middle age and a technologically sophisticated, luxury product in a vacant market niche,” says Strauss about what sets them apart.

As of now, DEVIEHL cups are available at Harrods, Knightsbridge, and William & Son, Mount Street, in London.
